Several years ago I wrote an article about how my neighbor created patriotic-themed rooms in her lake house.  If you want to create the same look in your home follow these steps below:

1. Purchase an area rug or carpet that highlights the theme

2. Repeat the red, white and blue theme all around the room

3. Paint a shelf red and add bears or clowns to it

4. Paint existing outdoor furniture to match the theme

5. Add throws, pillows, candles and lamps with flag themes

6. Paint an old bench or table red, white and blue and add stripes

7. Paint a lamp in the theme colors and cut out stars in the lamp shade

8. Display antique flags, Uncle Sam’s and other patriotic memorabilia
