Mi-Ling Stone Poole, author of the “Comfort Zone” column in The Oklahoman’s Saturday Real Estate section, celebrates her one-year anniversary this weekend on KTOK-AM.
Q. Why did you start the radio show?
A. I wanted to give listeners cost-effective design tips as well as information on health/fitness, comfort food and celebrity interviews. Listeners love Chef Karl Greene, who gives recipes every other week. Also, “The View’s” Sherri Shepherd will be a guest on my show Dec. 6.
Q. Which show are you most proud of?
A. I have interviewed a number of wonderful guests during the past year, from “Extreme Makeover’s” Paige Hemmis to HGTV’s Kim Myles and Tanya Nayak. The most moving show for me was my tribute to Michael Jackson, whom I met backstage when I was 14 years old.
Q. Why are you so passionate about decorating?
A. Decorating for me is therapy, I’ve always enjoyed creating beautiful spaces, but I never thought of it as a career. All of this is really a tribute to my brother, Tony. Shortly before his death in 2001 from lung cancer he inspired me to find my passion in life.
